Finally got the truck in the garage and a day to work on it. Engine, tranni and case are out. Bye Bye to the little 2 putt 8. Gotta drag it outside and pressure wash under the hood. There's a blanket of mud on everything under there. Now I need to figure out some engine mounts...RYAN!!!! ;D

Its not that bad just have to move the motor mounts a head a few inches and you are all set.

Just throwing this out there , I went with the 4.3 mounts with the toyota . They were supposed to be the super duper ones from energy suspension or one of them companys , well they ain't worth a f#%$ , drivetrain hopping all over the place in no time . I don't know but maybe the stock ones would have held up better but I swapped out to old used old style clamshell type , tried tested and true .

Yeah, the 4.3 mounts are known to be shit. The factory 2.8 mounts are the same as the (clamshell) type, or the old style mounts... can't come completely apart. What I need is a piece of plate bolted to the block with 2 ears welded to it in the right spot to bolt to the factory frame mounts. What I don't have is a measurement for the mounts so the tranni and T-case will still bolt up in its factory spot. I know the brackets can be bought, I just rather make them and save the loot seeing there's nothing too them. A break in run before May sounds sweet! I always shoot for that every year but it never happens for some reason lol.... I'm always testin on the 24 run!!!!

Why not sit the whole drivetrain in place bolted to the mounts in the back and the engine hung at the height you want it , that way you know your mounts are in the right place and all the angles will be right as well . It may sound like more work but if you go with measurements , do a bunch of welding and then drop the motor down and can't get it to sit on the mounts properly or the holes don't line up for the bolt to go through you may end up doing some cursing . You look like you have lots of room that you could even do all the welding to them while the engine is in place in which case your not doing any extra work at all .

thats what i did put the hole drive train in and lined up the factory trans cross member and welded the mounts worked great but i did have to pull the front clip off, found it easier to work on, you can get at everything

I may end up going that way yet. Just that you can buy mounts for the swap... so if I had the measurements it would save all that. Not that big a deal I guess.

???charles did you give up on the s10or what ??? Feels that way lol. Been busy the last while and no time to think about the truck. I did look at the advance adapter mounts,... $158 bucks plus. Can't see me shellin out that much for a couple pieces of 1/4 plate. I also see that the 2wd and 4wd are different part # so idk ... Hoping to get a day soon and maybe look at mocking them up myself. Anyone have a cardboard small block I can borrow lol???
