I never saw a firewall rust out like that before .... me either. I almost sh*t when I realized how bad it was. The driver side cab mount and rocker was bad enough. I can't wait to get to the box! Charles.

Its amazing what a chipping hammer and a wire wheel can do to a spot you think is solid lol. Ended up reinforcing the pass side cab mount. It was a little to soft to leave so I plated the inside of the floor with 3/16 plate and capped the box on the underside with 3/16 too. Should be OK for a little while now. I hope! Going to get some of the fill work done on the doors before I put the fenders back on. Got to put the heater box back in with a new core too. Hoping to get a little done today. Charles.

How are you going to tighten the cab mount ? I can't see any access for the bolt .

The original nut is still in the box with a piece of 1/8 plate 3"x1.5" welded to it. The plate catches the inside of the box stopping the nut from turning. That's how they are from factory. I just capped the box for strength.
If I ever have any prob with it I can easily cut a hole later. Just got lazy.
Charles.

Little more done, not much. New heater core is in, d-side fender and inner are on and some of the body work on the doors and cab corners is roughed in. Just one coat of etch primer for now until I can get back to it. Hoping to get one good day in this weekend so I can get the pass side back together and get a start on the box. At the rate I'm going its going to see mud before paint!!! I better get the windshield in!!! Charles.

Slid out long enough to get the heater, pass fender/inner fender and hood bolted back up today. Got to get the box bolted on next!!!! Few rib repairs and a b-lift for it tomorrow. So who's the best (cheapest) guy to get to put my windshield in? They have to come to my place and supply the primer, urethane and molding kit. The place I called in Syd said 80 bucks There has to be someone cheaper than that. Charles.

Not much to tell. B-lift for the box is done and the ribs are fixed. Put a bit of paint on it and got the box back on the truck...with bolts this time. Starting to look like a truck at least. Still lots of body work to do to the box. $#%@*&!!!!!!!! Charles.

looking good charles, did a lot of work! With the short spurts I only get in the garage it feels like its never going to be finished. Here's the proof I actually took the time to weld the box up instead of stogging it with tiger hair like originally planned. ;D I don't plan on spending a lot of time on the fill work so I doubt it will be very straight, but its a little more solid now. This is what you do when you can't afford a new pannel, but can afford a roll of mig wire Gonna try and get a batch of fill on it tonight. Not sure if its going to happen tho. Charles.

After cleaning the rust above the wheel on the pass side, it looked like it was shot with a 12 gage scatter shot so... Carl, I know these next couple pics will make you shake your head. ;D ... I had to do it. I wanted to just fill over the holes but couldn't do it. I hacked up a mint front fender for this patch.

Little more done. Batch of fill on the pass side, got the drivers side blocked out a bit more and a coat of etch primer on it tonight. Had a good week on it this week. Hopefully I can keep the pace up a bit. Charles.
