Turns out the old Scout i thought i was using for my sas is passenger side drop front axle. Aparently there are Scout 1's and Scout 2's both with the pumpkin on oposite sides. Also one is D30 and the other is D44. So much for that thought. Trying to gain manual hubs with a D30 sfa's not lookin good.

Ok so I ended up buying an 87 Jeep YJ Wrangler. It has a HP Dana30 up front. I figure i'll start with that. Hopefully it will withstand 33" tsl's and will get me off the ground a little more for this year anyways. The plan is to still gear up for a D44, just that I already have almost everything I need for the D30 swap, so i'm gonna give it a try first and see how it works. They say how good it holds up all depends on your right foot, some guys are getting away with 35's on the D30. My right foot is usually in the oil pan so i guess we'll see. ;D

Actually, from what i've been reading all of the wranglers (YJ,XJ and MJ) from mid 80's to mid 90's all used the high pinion Dana 30 up front. The difference with the XJ (from mid 95 to mid 97) is it uses a larger 297 u-joint where the YJ uses a weaker 260 u-joint.
