Picked up my waggy D44's yesterday. Truck's in the garage all ripped appart. The ugly IFS. Glad to see it go. Bye Bye!!! A pic of the old girl all tore apart... Still a few IFS brackets to cut off but i got a start on it finally. I'll post more updates and pics as i go. Charles.

Had to modify the tranni crossmember to make room for the front driveshaft. Not too sure if its going to be ok like that but i seen an S-10 on another site done similar and it was running a D44/V8 combo with no probs. I may complete the loop i'm not sure yet. Charles.

Picked up a donor axle today. Mid 70's chev D44 with the flat top pass side knuckle. I plan to get it milled, drilled and tapped for a high steer arm. Anyone care to give there opinion on the tranni crossmember? I'm not sure if its going to be strong enough like that. Its not my design, its something i found on another site and has been used by a few different people without problems. Thats why i did it like that. It just looks like it would flex alot to me. Not to mention bend easily if it was to take a hit. Any opinions?? Should i just make a whole new crossmember up with 3" channel or something and mount it back further under the front output?? or does everyone think it will be ok the way i have it. It was the tranni crossmember that hit last year when i put my head through the windshield. It stopped me dead and barely bent. its more of a dent really with no other damage. I figure if something simular happened again with the crossmember the way it is, i'll be replacing the tranni and t-case along with the windshield lol. Charles.

Think that if I made the cross member I would've run the gussets up over the top of the U piece. Looks like it wouldn't take much to drive it up wards.Other than that it should be fine.
What's the old car in the back ground?

Yeah i may use that advice. Its a little tight on the tranni side and at the T-case linkage. I suppose i could of made the U a little smaller. But i'm sure i can do something to make it a little stronger. I know i don't really have much faith in it the way it is. I was also thinking of trying to do it square instead of U shaped. Maybe with 3" channel. But i probably will try some better gussets before starting over. The car is a 68 chevelle. Its a clone SS with a sb 350. Don't even have a decent pic of it to show you. It needs a little TLC but all and all is in good shape. I should be shot for posting this shetty pic of it. Has an inch of dust on it and surounded by junk but its about all i have lol. Charles.

Added a little more steel to the tranni crossmember. Should be ok now.

Night and day on the crossmember . It's always the little things that make the difference in the end . How much clearance are you gaining over the IFS with the springs and the tires ?

That's looks alot better! You going to the run? I've been workin on it every chance i get trying to have it ready but with work and the baby i'm havin a hard time finding the wrench time. If i can get it mobile i'll take it. Finnished or not, if it drives its goin but its not lookin good. Still have steering issues to work on. How much clearance are you gaining over the IFS with the springs and the tires ? Not sure exactly on the lift. Approx 10-11 inch suspension and 4 inch body. As it sits right now in the garage, with the 33's on it, the frame is 26 inches off the floor and 3 feet to the bottom of the doors. My winter beater is a stock S-10 with 235's. Its frame is between 10 and 11 inches off the ground.

Not to sure where the night and day came from lol. Had to take it back out to weld in better gussets but it was more like a couple hours. Don't think i want to part with those slugs Jan sorry. I'm sure they'll end up back in it at some point. Not sure why i even put the lock hubs on, its only a beater for the woods.

Decided to back it out of the garage today for a couple pics. Still lots left to do but its mobile finally. Still thinkin about taking the body lift out. or at least putting a smaller one in. Also wishin i had a set of 36's. Those 33's are lookin pretty small ;D
